How to decorate your Easter table

Layer in the love with all of your favourite linens, crockery and vaseware to make an extra special setting. “Setting the table for a festive gathering requires balancing practicality and style,” says Jade Pausewang. “Start with a beautiful tablecloth or runner, then add decorative elements like candles, flowers, or a centrepiece – but keep them low so people can still converse easily. Leave ample space for plates, glasses, and silverware to avoid clutter.”

“By balancing style and practicality, you can create a beautiful and functional table setting.”

“We take a cue from Mother Nature, as we adore green and white,” says Jade. “They’re refreshing and timeless. This colour scheme can be adapted for a formal, casual, or sophisticated look, or even for a table that children will enjoy. It’s ideal for an Easter table, as you can incorporate almost any other colour as accents.”

  • Draw inspiration from nature, vintage treasures, or unique textures
  • Use moss runners and wildflowers scattered across the table for a fresh, organic touch
  • Transform birdcages into floral centrepieces or craft a bird’s nest from twigs to showcase painted or chocolate eggs
  • Of course, any bunnies, are a lovely addition to any table – why not pop one at each place setting as a gift to take home?

Host a bountiful Easter lunch

“Start with a tablecloth, runner, or placemat as the base, then add a statement piece like colourful glassware or a bold centrepiece for visual interest,” says Jade. “Mix textures and incorporate natural elements for depth and elegance. Finish with small details like napkin rings and decorative eggs to create a cohesive look. Balance your layers and create harmony by distributing visual weight and texture throughout the tablescape.”

Make a flower arrangement

For many, a long weekend includes a trip to the local farmers market and the gathering of seasonal blooms by the bunch. With time on your side, the long weekend is a great opportunity to try your hand at flower arranging with mixed blooms and different vessels. Fashion a floral centrepiece for your Easter table, prepare a freshly brought-together bunch to take along to your lunch host, or simply display and enjoy your creation all weekend.
