In years past, I never viewed Amazon Australia as a go-to for home staples; I was convinced that their range couldn’t match the level of aesthetic curation I was pining for. However, over the last 12-months, I’ve been forced to reassess my position. Owing to a well-loved Amazon Prime membership and a thoughtfully planned strategy for approaching the retailer’s major sales period, I’ve sourced some of my most-used cleaning appliances, decor items, and furniture pieces from the online giant, and ahead of Prime Day, I’m helping you do the same.

From the 7th of July until midnight on the 13th of July, Amazon’s highly anticipated Prime Day sale will return, making some of my favourite Amazon purchases cheaper than ever.

The catch, however, is the task of sifting through thousands of products for the very best deals, and success relies on whether or not you go in with a plan. My advice? Complete a home audit before filling your cart, identifying which tech, cleaning staples, and countertop appliances you need to upgrade. Even a little bit of pre-Prime Day preparation can mitigate the risk of impulse buys and remorse-riddled delivery days.

Skip the rest: 3 high-value categories to shop this Prime Day

Let’s be honest, there are quite a few skippable storefronts on Amazon. However, when you know where to look, the retailer also houses a range of top-rated products from trusted brands like Shark, KitchenAid, Tefal, and Dyson. The trick to avoiding a lemon this Prime Day is knowing your high-value product categories from those that should be avoided.

What’s worth shopping during Amazon Prime Day, 2026

The majority of my favourite daily essentials, from my Tineco Hard Floor Cleaner and Dyson Stick Vacuum, to my Ninja Coffee Machine, are available from Amazon, and dramatic discounts have officially landed. To avoid accidentally taking a sub-par deal to checkout, I recommend opting for cleaning appliances, home tech upgrades, or kitchen appliances and cookware; three categories that cover daily necessities and often see the highest discounts during sales.

Cleaning appliances

Stick vacuums, spot cleaners, robot vacuums & more

I’ve tried and tested more vacuums than I can count, and the brands I keep coming back to, Dyson, Tineco, and Roborock, are all available on Amazon. To help you pick out what a good deal on these brands actually looks like, I’ve tracked their prices over the last 6 months, so you can compare their Prime Day Prices with their biggest historical discounts.

Anyone who knows me personally has heard me rave about the viral Bissell Little Green Spot Cleaner for rugs, upholstered furniture, or simply cleaning up spills. The lowest price the Little Green has been listed for on Amazon is $147, back in April of this year: a discount that seems relatively common during sale periods and that we expect to see again this Prime Day.

The Tineco S7, which I swear by for maintaining any parts of my home with hard flooring, is generally priced at $899, but has dropped as low as $448.99 over the last 6 months; if you see this price met, or lowered even further, during Amazon Prime Day, you can feel confident that it’s the best price you’re going to get.

ECOVACS is another brand to watch this Prime Day. In particular, we’re keeping an eye on their Deebot T30S Pro Robot Vacuum and Mop, which we’ve seen discounted by up to 70% during sale periods, offering a saving of $850 off.

Home technology

Security cameras, digital calendars, speakers, and more

This Prime Day, expect to see home tech sales rival those seen during Black Friday; yes, they really are that good. Two recent home upgrades that I’m particularly glad I invested in are a Ring Doorbell Camera and a sound bar; one for practicality, one for an incredibly elevated home entertainment experience. And if you’re inclined to follow in my footsteps, check the price-tracking details on my top picks to make sure you’re getting the best price during this year’s Prime Day Sales.

Ring Doorbell Security cameras have already seen considerable discounts as part of Amazon’s ‘Early Prime Day Deals.’ And while I only have 3 months’ worth of data to draw from, the current price of my top choice, the Ring Battery Video Doorbell + Chime bundle, now $75, is already very low. However, it’s worth noting that we did see this bundle drop to $69 in early June, so holding out might just save you $6. I’m also expecting Amazon’s Echo Dot Smart Speaker to drop in price to around $59 based on historical trends.

The viral Skylight Digital Calendar usually boasts a premium price tag of $529, and I’ve only noted rare and minimal discounts popping up over the last 6 months. The lowest price I’ve seen it listed for was $449, which I’m expecting Amazon to match (or at least come close to) this Prime Day

LG Electronics, available from their dedicated Amazon Storefront, are another great investment option for Prime Day. Their S80TR Sound Bar + Rear Speakers bundle is a particularly good find; usually priced at $1,295, with the lowest recorded price over the last 6 months being $569, keep an eye on this one during the sale season.

Kitchen appliances & cookware

Coffee machines, toasters and kettles, pans, and more

When Prime Day rolls around, spending your sale budget on kitchenware can make a real difference and secure you some great savings, too. Personally, I’ll be prioritising appliances like toasters, kettles, and air fryers this sale season, and tacking on a non-stick cookset set to my order if the sales prove particularly enticing. To make sure I’m getting a good price, I’ve tracked the historical discounts on a few of my items, which I’m sure you’ll find handy, too.

The much-loved appliance brand, Ninja, are worth watching this Prime Day, as their range often sees considerable discounts during Amazon sales. Their Premier Espresso Machine, usually $799.99, has been reduced to as little as $569 in the past 6 months, with the largest discounts I recorded falling during January. I’m also keeping an eye on the viral Ninja Foodie Air Fryer, usually $188, to see if it drops back to its all-time low price of $139.

My next wishlist item is the gorgeous Icona Vintage Kettle and Toaster Pack from De’Longhi. This bundle, usually $318, is already 41% off, and as I haven’t been able to trace previous discounts, I’m dangerously tempted to add it to my cart ahead of Prime Day.

And while I’m entirely committed to my Our Place cookware, I’m also in the market for more non-stick staples for my partner (call me toxic, but he’s not allowed to touch my prized Our Place Always Pan). The Tefal Ingenio Easy On 13-Piece Cookware Set is my perfect solution, high-quality and fairly priced, it’s a set he won’t mind being stuck with. However, I will be waiting to see if it drops back to a historically low price of $211.65 this Prime Day
