A brilliant way to achieve a richer level of comfort in your master bedroom is choosing finishes that speak to a more luxurious way of life. Elsewhere in the home you may have introduced natural stone surfaces such as marble and travertine in tiling and benchtops, brass or copper tapware rather than the usual chrome. Consider your choice of flooring with just a little extravagance in mind.
Get dramatic with flooring
High shine or black-painted floorboards add drama to a space and provide a strong base from which to build a colour scheme. The handmade mosaic of parquetry timber or deep, lush carpet are all extra special finishes to consider to imbue a little luxury.
In a new build, the choice of flooring is entirely up to you and this is one way to bring in an extra layer of depth in detail. Consider under-floor heating in the ensuite or where you have concrete floors that extend into the sleeping area.
In the cooler months, layer rugs over flooring for added warmth and comfort underfoot, or go for more drama and decadence with animal hides.
