The former music room in her home has been converted into an industrial-style home office extolling raw materials.

What are your office must-haves?

“A good, solid desk. I designed mine and my husband built it with materials left over from a building project. The desk is made from hardwood floors, the legs from scaffolding and the shelves are held up with plumber’s pipe. I think my rescue dog, Benji, is a must-have, too. He’s good company!”

On your wishlist?

“Definitely a drafting table. At the moment, when I’m working on floor plans, I have to use my island bench.”

“Reusing leftover materials is important to me and it’s something I try to do on all my projects”

“Measure the space well, have a desk top cut to size and then simply place it on either two trestle legs or two filing cabinets. All of this can be bought from
Ikea or your local hardware store.”
