Between the joys of summer and the promise of a fresh start, January is often an idyllic month. It also feels like a natural time to prepare for the year ahead and develop habits to anchor to when life becomes overwhelming once again. And if your year is already off to a rough start? Don’t worry, the Year Of The Horse is galloping your way.

French cleaning products

There’s nothing quite like the new year to renew our desire for a fresh space but mustering up the cleaning motivation is another issue. Perhaps I’ve just spent too many hours browsing the Maison Empereur website but I’ve come to the conclusion that our cleaning products should be pretty as well as practical. Perhaps that’s a little prima donna of me but as the French say, c’est la vie.

Simplifying life admin

Tackling my life admin is one of my New Year goals. I love the idea of starting the year by booking all of my annual appointments – you know the ones: the dentist, the optometrist, the annual skin check; writing down everyone’s birthdays in a yearly calendar; and actually getting around to printing all of my photos off my phone. My motivation? A cute workspace and a new yearly planner are my guards against procrastination.

Sunday self care

The self care conversation might have been done to death, but it’s still one of the best cures for the Sunday blues. Whether it’s a glass of wine and your favourite magazine, or a long soak in the bath and a cup of tea, it might not fix all your problems but it probably will make you feel better.
