A historic English manor once owned by Spice Girls’ alum, Melanie Brown (Mel B) has been put on the market. The singer and TV personality called the manor home during the 1990s, at the height of her ‘Scary Spice’ days in the British girl group but she’s not the home’s only famous connection.
The Grade-II listed manor is located just an hour away from London, in the idyllic village of Little Marlow. According to the Rob Report, the first mention of the home dates back to 1086, when it was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Since then, the manor house has been used as the HQ for the 5th Battalion of the Black Watch, with General Eisenhower and General Montgomery allegedly based there ahead of the D-Day landings. It was during this time that Queen Elizabeth II also reportedly visited the premises.
Even without its impressive history, the seven-bedroom estate is a standout property with plenty of desirable architectural features, including grand drawing rooms, Elizabethan oak panelling, a 17th-century oak staircase, Jacobean fireplaces and Georgian sash windows with original wooden shutters.
Along with the rare historical features, the home also has a library with a secret door leading to a snug, a mirrored cloackroom and a beautiful orangery with French doors. The home also retains its original Elizabethan cellars and an ancient secret passage leading to the river.
