Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have put their Cotswolds farmhouse on the market less than a year after purchasing it. The couple moved to the UK last year, after Donald Trump was re-elected president in the United States. While the couple aren’t moving back to the US just yet, they have confirmed that they have moved into a new home in England.
“We decided we needed a different house, and now we are selling that house. So if anyone wants a house, it’s a beautiful stone farmhouse,” Ellen told fans at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre during a recent show, according to the Daily Mail.
Since moving to the UK, Ellen has shared that the couple have fallen in love with the English countryside. “The UK is beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful. We [Americans] are just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. Even in the villages and the towns, I love the architecture and houses. Everything you see here is charming. It is a simpler way of life.”
The couple’s first English home certainly has that English charm, with the 43-acre estate, known as Kitesbridge Farm, featuring a traditional stone farmhouse and sprawling country garden.
Ellen and Portia gave the farmhouse an extensive renovation, with extra bedrooms, bathrooms and a two-bedroom guest cottage added to the existing property. The estate also comes with a gym, heated indoor pool, helipad and a ‘party’ barn. Despite the modern amenities, the home’s interiors do retain a genuine sense of historic character with original beams and stone throughout.
Not long after the renovation, the couple moved onto a hilltop mansion outside of a village in Oxfordshire. From Ellen’s Instagram posts, this home seems to have a much more modern design than the traditional stone farmhouse. However, the farm animals haven’t been left behind with Ellen sharing that even the sheep are liking the new space.
The farmhouse has been listed for £22.5 million (AU$46.1 million) and you can find the full listing on Sotheby’s International Realty UK.
