It’s hard to believe it’s 20 years since we first fell in love with Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. Her trials and tribulations whilst living the cosmopolitan life in New York City had us glued to our screens.
As much as any of her procession of gentlemen suitors however, we admired Carrie’s apartment, which underwent a gradual metamorphosis as her life unfolded before us.
Most notably perhaps we coveted her walk-in wardrobe and it’s been a source of yearning for thousands of women the world over as we try to recreate it in our own homes.
Taking things one step further is the new 3D online design agency Modsy, who’s service uses existing spaces submitted by people wanting to makeover or “refurnish” their own homes. Using a realistic render made from detailed photographs submitted of each room, the team at Modsy update the space with a new look including furnishings, colour palette, lighting and fixtures.
To demonstrate the capacity of their tools, Modsy has recreated Carrie’s apartment and brought it to life and up-to-date with not one, but four makeovers – cleverly recreating Carrie’s apartment in the decorating style of each of the SATC characters – firstly in Carrie’s own style, dubbed ‘Mod Collector’, followed by a rendition of styles for Samantha; “Less is More Chic”, Charlotte; “Refined Connoisseur” and finally Miranda’s “Contemporary Minimalist” look.
More than a simple makeover, the results are fabulous!
