The property that once played host to the very first season of The Bachelor Australia is up for sale. As OG Bachelor fans may remember, the first season is also the one where Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich fell in love, ultimately leading to their eventual marriage and two children. And the place where it all began is almost as romantic as their love story.

Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in the suburb of Bayview, the original Bachelor mansion is a French-inspired property overlooking Scotland Island and Pittwater. Named ‘La Joie de Vivre,’ the magnificent property certainly boasts Chateau-like features with its sprawling sandstone terraces, arched cololumns and resort-like pool.

During its Bachelor-tenure, the property was under the ownership of late Startrack founder and philanthropist Gregory Poche and his late wife Kay, who bought the home in 2003 before letting the the show film there.
However after one season, the show moved onto other properties in locations such as Hunters Hill and Glenorie, and the Poches sold their home to Freight magnate Clive Thomas and his wife Lee in 2016. The property has been sold twice more since then, changing hands in 2020 and then 2023. Now, the property has hit the market with a $15m price guide.

Those intrigued by the famous property will not be disappointed by its sumptuous interiors, chandeliers hang from almost every ceiling and grand staircases descend into even grander living spaces.

The granite flooring, feature fireplaces and wall-to-wall arched windows are just some of the interior delights of this property, which also boasts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

The chef’s grade sparkling white kitchen is also particularly impressive with its twin ovens, dual dishwashers, fully-equipped butler’s pantry and stove-top island – but if you want to entertain outside, there’s also a fully equipped outdoor kitchen for that task.

Along with the luxurious swimming pool, the property also comes with a spa, sauna, and private championship tennis court with a self-contained courtside studio for additional guests.
While the property hasn’t found it’s forever owner yet, we’re excited to see who gives this home the final rose.
