As we enter the last month of winter, we’re turning our attention to our neglected gardens and adding more magic to both our children and grown up spaces.
The best interior trends and homewares to shop in August 2025
Fairytale furnishings

This month, we fell in love with the fairytale-like home of artist and designer Fleur Harris. The home’s collection of vintage decor, romantically draped curtains and whimsical wallpaper make it just as magical as Fleur’s children’s clothing line and is a good reminder of the power of bringing wonder into our interiors. The easiest place to start with magical decor is, of course, your child’s bedroom and we have plenty of children’s bedroom inspiration in our August issue. However, there’s certainly nothing stopping you from bringing a little more magic into your grown up spaces as well.

Winter gardens

Despite the continuing cold weather, the wild and wintry beauty of this Tim Pilgrim-designed garden has inspired us to turn to our outdoor spaces this month. By keeping the outdoor furniture simple, the garden’s swaying ornamental grasses and pretty winter plantings are able to shine. The pops of purple in the garden also inspired us to find the the best flowering plants for a colourful winter garden.
For a cosy but pared back winter garden look, we love the rustic (and weatherproof) charm of adirondack chairs, a crackling firepit for cold evenings and the right terracotta pot for your favourite winter flowers.
- Ehommate Outdoor Adirondack Chair, $189.99 (usually $219.99), Temple & Webster
- Stark Mesh Iron Bulb Lantern, $66 (usually $89), Early Settler

Regency romance

Pride and Prejudice might be over 200 years old but this year has seen the Jane Austen novel re-enter the cultural zeitgeist. First, the beloved film adaption, starring Keira Knightly, is turning 20 this year, prompting its many fans to reflect on the film set’s iconic decor. The house from the BBC miniseries adaption of the novel also hit the market last month, followed by the cast announcement for Dolly Alderton’s new adaptation of the novel. If this much Pride and Prejudice cultural discussion doesn’t make you want to bring some regency romance into your interiors then you’re stronger than we are.
