At home with Kylie
Kylie’s formal living room, in her waterfront family home, is a sumptuous mix of textures and neutral tones.
Timber tales
“I’m putting my hand up and saying the logs are totally for show! Patrick Dempsey – McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy – had one just like this. I’ve loved the look ever since I spied his beautiful home in a magazine. It sits next to a totally practical gas fireplace. [ Kylie’s husband] Tony actually stacked and arranged it all himself, but make sure you say I passed the wood up to him – I was a great passer-upperer!”
Art
“I bought this Lisa Parsons artwork from Small Spaces in Sydney’s Redfern years ago as a Valentine’s Day gift for Tony. It lists the names of famous lovers throughout history. I love the calligraphy – it’s really beautiful.”
Bedroom
“Our bedroom really is our sanctuary. We went to Paris and were told about the shop Merci – I spent hours there and filled my suitcase with linen for our bedroom. We have a television in there, which goes against all advice from every sex therapist in the land! But you know what? There’s nothing better than going to bed and watching some trashy reality show together. I think it’s a must for a happy marriage!”
Boys’ zone
“This spot is really the hub of our home. It’s where the boys [sons Gus, 13, and Archie, 11] shoot baskets, and where we have barbecues and spend the occasional, very rare, free Sunday afternoon. The bi-folds open up so it flows from the kitchen and dining area. It’s like another lounge room”.
Pepe
“Tony will tell you the three of us ganged up on him and wore him down to get a dog. For all Tony’s protests, Pepe has won him over too. He’s a French bulldog and now rules the roost!”
