Wallpaper may have fallen in and out of fashion over the years but we’re happy to see that it’s officially back in vogue. The vintage design trend has made it’s return with the resurgence of English style interiors, which is seeing people sought after more colour, character and charm in their homes. And wallpaper provides all three.

Out of all of the rooms that you can adorn with wallpaper, the bedroom is a space that particularly benefits from wallpaper’s cocooning effect. Whether it’s bringing an element of romance to the room with a beautiful floral pattern, adding a sense of playfulness in a child’s bedroom or simply tying the space together with some much-needed colour and depth, wallpaper will always elevate a bedroom.

For your inspiration, we have selected 11 of the most beautiful bedroom wallpaper designs to have featured in Home Beautiful over the years.

Colour and pattern reign in this joyful bedroom, where Adlington’ wallpaper by Lee Jofa provides a romantic backdrop for the custom bedhead upholstered in ‘Somerville’ fabric by Warwick, cane bedsides from Flamingo Rd and cushions made from Pierre Frey’s striped ‘Alicia’ fabric. A duo of ‘Milling Lane’ lamps with ‘Scallop Edge Raffia’ shades, and an antique quilt cover, all from Spiro Store, complete the colourful space.

The owners of this lovely Melbourne home wanted their bedroom to feel tranquil but richly decorated. A cosy but elegant look is achieved with the eye-catching Jasper Fabrics ‘Kashmir’ wallpaper, from Michael S Smith Inc and a custom bedhead by Jam Interiors, which is upholstered in Rose Tarlow ‘Kasteel’ fabric in Tarn. The earthy brown patterned bedspread and patterned cushions complete the desired look.

A custom bedhead is covered with Boyac ‘Normandy’ linen in Sorbet and the area above the picture rails painted Dulux Blossom Time, tying the room together with a pop of soft pink.

This beachside property required a level of interiors to match the impressive surroundings. In the bedroom, Schumacher ‘Kerala Paisley’ wallpaper sets the tone for the core palette of coastal blues within the room. Striped blue curtains, throw pillows and a ‘Mahalo’ quilt from Pottery Barn complete the look.

Tropical charm

Shades of green pervade the interiors of this Queensland cottage.
