Instagram is often used as the main source for sharing design and architecture inspiration. Therefore it’s no surprise that images of beautiful floors are frequently shared on the platform.
Carpetright has collected data from Instagram to discover the most popular and beautiful floors around the world.
When it comes to flooring, Anna Del Molino, a buyer for Carpetright, says trends have changed in recent times when it comes to flooring, and people are making more colourful choices.
“There’s been a big shift from beige to grey which has been the interiors shade of choice over the last few years, although it appears that beige, or rather, greige, is set to be the colour of 2020,” she says.
“I think the biggest change has been how bold people are willing to be with their flooring and in the types of flooring people are putting down. Strong, striking patterns, bright colours and smart stripes all feature in modern homes and often across a mixture of carpet, luxury vinyl, wood and tiles. Animal print is very now, and it’s filtering down from fashion into home in 2020.”
Hotels, restaurants and stores are also making bolder choices, realising that it can make their establishment more desirable to customers.
“Hotels, restaurants and stores are certainly more aware of the Instagram-effect than they were before,” Anna explains.
“They’ve realised that having a trend-led space, especially with an “Insta-worthy” floor is a guaranteed way to get visitors snapping and tagging in their posts. Popular hashtags such as #ihavethisthingwithfloors has led to a rise in demand for beautiful flooring, especially with regards to statement patterns and designs.”
