According to the New York Times procrastibaking is “the practice of baking something completely unnecessary, with the intention of avoiding ‘real’ work”.

Students, writers (ahem!) housekeepers… we’re all guilty and it’s time we stood up loud and proud. Sweet or savoury, cake or cookie – everyone has a go-to when they’re supposed to get getting other things done.

“I started procrastibaking in college as a way to feel productive while also avoiding my schoolwork,” student Wesley Straton told The New York Times. “Baking feels like a low-stakes artistic outlet.”
