When Therese spotted these chairs at Kmart for $39 each, she swung into action – and bought up a palette. But before they made an appearance in her sumptuous study, they were given a quick makeover…
Looking for a little more luxe, Therese spray-painted the original beech-style metal legs bronze with a paint picked up from Bunnings. Try White Knight Metal Guard Brass Spray Paint, $29.
As a consultant, Therese often works from home and says she wanted to make this cosy, south-facing room all her own. “I have boys,” she explains. “So this is my room!” The room is painted in Dulux Bakos Blue. A vintage blue lamp base is topped with a lamp shade in a favourite Florence Broadhurst print, ‘Turnabouts’.
Therese is not the only Kmart Mum to hack this dining chair, Melbourne Mum @nevbetts has also made it work in her dining room:
We love the ingenuity and style in both rooms – amazing what you can do on a budget! But the best bit is that Kmart has taken a leaf out of the books of both Mums and released a new model of the chair with metallic-look legs!
The new model is $45 and has an upright style, but we think we know where the inspiration came from!
