KItchen
This bright and pretty home has an enviable location on a beautiful stretch of the Victorian coast, and the area’s laid-back vibe is echoed throughout, especially in the kitchen, which stars a textural mix of Tasmanian oak panelling and robust concrete flooring. ‘Paxton’ bar stools from Early Settler enhance the industrial-meets-coastal ambience, along with a ‘Saint Malo’ oak dining table and ‘Ibiza’ chairs, all from Dare Gallery.
Kitchen
An offcut of grey granite – a wallet-friendly purchase – tops the kitchen’s island bench, a fine stage for a stylish pull-out mixer tap – for similar, try ‘Spin’ by Zucchetti. On the benchtop, Wooden HK Living plates from House Of Orange echo the timber accents. Polytec ‘Ashgrain’ melamine cabinetry in Classic White was installed by Get A Handle On It, while Tasmanian oak cladding adds warmth. Timber pendants from Early Settler (now discontinued, but Mercator’s ‘Copenhagen’ has a similar look) illuminate the island.
Living room
Drenched in natural light thanks to Vantage ‘D’Stacker’ doors and grounded by the raw beauty of the flooring, the family room has an organic style. Warmth comes courtesy of a cowhide rug from Factory One, a Sage And Clare throw on the sofa and the Tasmanian oak-encased fireplace. The armchair – one of two – was a lucky council clean-up find, and has been repainted and reupholstered.
Family room
Formerly a dark and dated kitchen, the family room now has cement-rendered wall delivering textural interest, its brutish impact softened by soft furnishings. The pool table was found on Gumtree and given a coat of paint and new black felt.
Family room
A chaise sofa from Focus On Furniture, dressed with a Bemboka throw from Bushel & A Peck, stands on a rug from Target, while the armchair is another roadside discovery given a revamp with fabric from Spotlight. A Moroccan-style rug from Dollar Curtains & Blinds and an over-dyed rug from HK Living add extra comfort. Overhead, ‘Rima 6’ pendants from Early Settler provide statement lighting.
Patio
Anchored by stylish limestone tiles from the Stone & Tile Centre, the covered alfresco area is a favourite gathering spot, and the monochrome dining setting easily accommodates a small crowd. Re-create the look with Zanui’s ‘Roden’ table and ‘Gracie’ chairs from Globe West. Oversized cutlery wall art from Bunnings adds a quirky touch, while the eclectic tableware includes a vintage French chopping board from Andrew Wilson Antiques, round salt and oil dishes by Kaz Ceramics and etched blue glasses from HK Living.
Main bedroom
From the stormy wall colour – SpaceCote Low Sheen in Eighth Friar Grey by Resene – to the misty-hued Bedouin Societe bed linen from Fenton & Fenton and marble-look Ferm Living cushion from Norsu Interiors, gorgeous grey shades combine to create a restful vibe in the main bedroom. This retreat has a lovely comforting feel, thanks to the linen accents on a Focus On Furniture’s ‘Zara’ bed, aged-look bedsides from Early Settler and lamps and a throw from Target. A sparkling glass pendant (try Zanui’s ‘Coco’ for similar) and a Maisey scented candle add a touch of glamour. But it’s the eco-friendly Prestige ‘Sublime’ carpet in Fog (sourced at Carpet World) that is the true talking point – it’s made of recycled soft-drink bottles.
Guest bedroom
An Ikea day bed (for similar, try ‘Svelik’) has been dressed with bedlinen and cushions from Target, while an Icelandic sheepskin rug from Etsy lends extra softness to the floor. The chair is yet another revamped roadside rescue.
Ensuite
A sense of luxury continues in the ensuite, with its egg-like Aspire ‘Matisse Escape’ tub from Burdens Bathrooms, concrete-look ‘Base Light Grey’ ceramic tiles from the Stone & Tile Centre, and Tasmanian oak-lined feature wall complemented by a stylish timber twin vanity – actually a cleverly repurposed entertainment unit fitted with SI ‘Monarco’ sinks, also from Burdens. The Sussex ‘Scala’ from Reece is a similarly elegant floor-mounted bath spout.
Family bathroom
The relaxed vibe continues in the family bathroom, where a buffet spotted online becomes another one-of-a-kind vanity. A ‘Concertina’ bowl from Sage And Clare dresses the space.
