There’s a tranquility to this inner-Melbourne home that the owners relish at the end of the day – in particular this gorgeous pamper zone. “We wanted to turn the bathroom into a sanctuary – a place to really relax and have a lovely bath.” says the homeowner.
Aided by the expertise of designer Carmel Wylie of GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens, the couple decided to partly demolish a wall between the existing dark and dated 1970s bathroom and their bedroom’s original walk-in wardrobe, making way for a luxuriously large retreat. “Taking out the wall made the space so much bigger, and also brought in more light to the wardrobe from the bathroom window,” explains the homeowner.
The ensuite is now a sunny haven with hotel-worthy detailing, including a sumptuous freestanding bath and a bold feature wall of teal-patterned tiling that elevates the room to a style show stopper. The homeowner, who loves blue, adores the Jatana Interiors tiles Carmel suggested for the feature wall. “I really wanted some colour in the room, to lift the space,” she says. “Now, the first thing you see when you walk in is the striking wall of these eye-catching tiles.”
Another plus is the abundance of concealed and open storage. “There’s a place for everything!” says the homeowner, who is delighted with the revamped retreat. “It’s just a lovely space to spend time in.”
