In 2023, Darren and his wife and collaborator, fellow chef Cath Claringbold, closed their pastry institution Burch & Purchese, which they had opened in 2011 just as dessert mania began to explode in Australia. Nowadays, they run Studio Kitchen, a website where they share their hefty back catalogue of recipes and new inspiration (plus a reliable smattering of ‘my old tricky stuff’ says Darren). And as a judge on The Great Australian Bake Off, Darren is spreading his words of encouragement to home bakers throughout the country.
