Every year, Australian homes inspire us with their creativity, character and personal style, and this year the entrants to Home Beautiful’s 50 Beautiful Rooms competition are no exception. From relaxed living spaces and clever kitchens to serene bedrooms and hardworking bathrooms, these rooms showcase how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living.
This carefully curated collection celebrates the spaces that resonated most with our audience, capturing the mood, each room tells a story of how we live today. Whether it’s a bold use of colour, a masterclass in layering textures or a beautifully resolved layout that balances form, function and how we want our homes to feel.

Killer kitchen
Home Beautiful‘s 2015 50 Beautiful Rooms winner Angela took inspiration from Melbourne’s cafe scene to create this industrial chic kitchen in her Perth home.
Bathroom bliss
The cottage charm of 2015 finalist Alexa’s gorgeous ensuite in Victoria has been given a modern edge with a curvaceous black-framed mirror and stand-out floor tiles.
Branched and beautiful bedroom
Pretty touches of lilac and a fantastic floral wallpaper – ‘Branches Black & White Trees’ from Wallpaper Brokers – make 2015 Beautiful Room finalist Lois’s bedroom difficult to resist.
Grounded glamour
Pared-back elegance and a touch of glamour – thank you, chandeliers – brings out the best of this grand sitting room in homeowner (and 2015 Beautiful Rooms finalist) Katie’s home in country NSW.
Calm and contemporary
Old-world charm blends with contemporary sensibilities to make this bathroom a style winner. “I wanted to combine Victorian architecture with modern luxury,” says homeowner and 2015 finalist Elizabeth of her Melbourne ensuite.
Childrens’ delight
The sense of joy in Archer’s beautiful bedroom won over the judges in last year’s Beautiful Rooms competition. Homeowner and finalist Yvette cleverly combined a restrained palette with splashes of colour and the odd instruction manual (see that clever custom-designed tram scroll.)
This charming seaside-style sitting room was a hit with last year’s Home Beautiful judging panel. Finalist Emma took her decorating cues from the geometric rug she purchased from Temple & Webster.
