Everyone has a collection of something. It might be records, scarves or comic book figurines, or it could be books, travel souvenirs or hats.
Whatever it is that you collect, there’s a creative way for you to display it at home, without using a traditional display cabinet. These ideas can work in living rooms or bedrooms, spare rooms, studies or offices, however some might need to be expanded or minimalised for larger collections or smaller spaces.
Here are six ways you can display your trinkets and collections.
1. Pile them into a wire basket
This will keep your collection neat and tidy, while also still being visible.
2. Style them into small vignettes or scenes
Group a few items from your collection on each a coffee table, mantelpiece, shelf, book case, side table or credenza.
3. Hang them on the wall
Just because it doesn’t usually go on a wall doesn’t mean that it can’t. Get creative with the layout and create a gallery of your favourite things. For smaller collector’s items, such as ticket stubs or stamps, try mounting them on paper then framing them and hanging them up as a gallery wall.
4. Prop them up in a printer’s tray
These multi-compartment trays are perfect for displaying smaller items and trinkets while keeping them orderly.
5. Stack them and make a feature of them
Books and magazines are perfect for stacking into random piles. Place them all spine out for a cohesive finish.
6. Prop them up in crates
Records, magazines, comic books, DVD’s and CD’s can all be propped up in crates.
