Fashion designer Camilla Franks, known for her vibrant range of luxurious kaftans adored by celebrities including Beyonce, Oprah, Kate Hudson and Miranda Kerr, has sold her Sydney home. With a buyers’ guide that started at $7 million and was later raised to $7.25 million, the renowned fashion designer stood to almost double the price she originally paid for it back in 2016. The sale of this exquisite home concluded on 3rd May, however, the final figure was undisclosed.

The home, which was built in the 1880s is known as ‘Villa Camilla’ and has been decorated exactly as you’d expect: with total disregard for real estate notions of broad market appeal and the all-beige-everything trend you’ve seen time and again on Pinterest.

Images from the home’s real estate listing show bedrooms plastered literally from floor to ceiling in floral wallpaper (designed by Camilla, of course), living spaces painted black and a curious collection of maximalist homewares including fringed lampshades, gilded mirrors and even a hanging monkey sculpture.

Camilla briefly rented out Villa Camilla for $6000 a week in 2021 as she moved to Wales to be with then-fiance, artist JP Jones. At the time, it was reported that a number of production companies had toured the home, scouting for potential shooting locations.

News of the sale follows Camilla’s purchase of a $12.5 million Arts and Crafts style home in Bondi.

In a statement to AFR, Camilla says “I honestly never thought I would ever leave my beautiful Woollahra sanctuary. I’m so excited to create new memories in this 1900s beauty – she has charm, personality and history.”

Camilla’s new home, which sits on Bondi’s biggest block spanning 1015sqm, has only undergone minor renovations over the past decade. It’s virtually a blank canvas for the designer to begin imagining an entirely new haven. There’s even DA approval for a new wing, guest house and an outdoor pool and entertainment area.

Camilla’s Woollahra home sale was set to go under the hammer on April 13 with Ray White Woollahra, however, the sale was ultimately closed by the team at PPD Real Estate
