Built in 1960 for developer Robert Alexander and his family and named the “House of Tomorrow” at the time, it later earned the moniker of “Honeymoon Hideaway”, following reports that Elvis carried his bride over the threshold and up the home’s stairs singing “Hawaiian Wedding Song” from his film, Blue Hawaii.
For lovers of architectural design, more significant is the home’s value as an excellent example of mid century modernism architecture. It is built in four perfect circles on three separate levels and features “peanut brittle” stonework in the stunning living areas, ringed by custom upholstered banquette seating around the perimeter facing a central fireplace.
Whilst glass interior feature walls throughout, clerestory windows beneath a cantilevered roof line flood the interiors with natural light.
With 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms it was indeed built for a King but as ever, great architecture has stood the test of time.
