It’s not green and it doesn’t have branches, but it’s this year’s most hacked Christmas tree in Australia.
The pared-back Scandi-style stacking box tree is only $12 at Kmart – and Australian mums can’t get enough of it.
The Facebook group Kmart Décor Ideas and Hacks has been inundated by members uploading their own customized versions of the tree.
The stacking shelves have been transformed into various Christmas themes and colour schemes.
Melissa Bye, for example, personalized the tree to celebrate her son Noah’s first Christmas.
“I used silver and gold glitter tape to cover the edges and glued different coloured and shaped baubles inside the shelving,” she explains.
According to Brisbane mum Richelle, it’s the tree’s simplicity that’s the key to its versatility.
“There are so many options to get creative. It was a fun little project that my little girl enjoyed being involved in,” she says.
Kmart mum Ashleigh agrees that the tree allows you to be as creative as you like. “I wanted to do something a bit different,” she says.
“I am very artistic, and I love making things myself, so I thought up the idea to use each shelf as a different scene that I could change every year depending on my decor.”
The stacking tree is available now from Kmart for $12.
