In a move that will delight mid-century fans, renowned furniture brand TH Brown has resumed production of their 1960s designs.
Along with iconic Australian mid-century designs by Parker, Fler and Featherston, the TH Brown Danish bar stool is one of the most collectable modernist furniture pieces in Australia. Testament to the design’s popularity, it features in galleries and interiors publications around the globe.
The stool is continuing the family tradition and is being produced by third generation TH Brown heir Simon Brown, and manufactured under licence to Workspace Commercial Furniture (formerly TH Brown Furniture P/L).
“Original TH Brown stools continue to be in high demand, but as the years go by they are becoming increasingly difficult to source,” Brown explains.
“Through this relaunch, I want to ensure that the next generation of design lovers can own a piece of modern Australian design history.”
“It goes without saying that we would commence the relaunch of TH Brown’s back catalogue with the most unique and sought after product of all – the 1960s Danish Bar Stool.
“This stool was considered the gold standard of 1960s furniture design. Now, 45 years on, the stool holds its own as a beautiful quintessentially modern piece”.
Also relaunching in September 2017 is the TH Brown Martelle bar stool. The beautifully sculpted fixed seat, angled legs and hand-stitched upholstery remain as contemporary as the day they were designed.
“Australian furniture has left an indelible mark on lovers of fine design around the globe, along with a rich manufacturing heritage right here in South Australia. My father’s passion for design and quality were legendary, which is why I am so proud to see his designs back in production in the 21st Century”. Brown concluded.
Each stool is hand-finished by expert craftsmen and features solid timber frames, Italian leather and quality materials.
The stools are available online at www.thbrown.com.au and select stockists.
